Secret History of EL Comics 24

Capt. Fantastic exhibits the idea that being a real hero is not always about brawn, but also requires something in the way of brains. The hero could have pounded his way into the ground to save the burly miner, but instead decided to use a fancier technique, turning himself into a human — or super-human — drill. Is this show-offy? Of course, but the moral here is that sometimes the show-offier tendencies of a superhero is the right tactical decision. Being a superhero is a show-offy profession. Finger wagging him because he decides to utilize his usefulness as a human — or super-human — drill would be like coming down on a Hollywood starlet for dressing in a fancy or provocative manner at a premiere party. That’s her job, that’s what she does. Concurrently, turning into a human — or super-human — drill is what Capt. Fantastic’s job is. That’s what he does.
