Secret History of EL Comics 26

What starts out as a friendly romp to introduce a new character — or, in comic book parlance, a new property to be used for action figures, t-shirts, and Saturday morning cartoons — turns into a dark examination of what it takes to hold actual power. Does a superhero really understand what it’s like to be an ordinary person any longer? Passing along power so casually is much like a rock star who sings about the woes of being famous — he is out of touch, no longer connected to his audience. The attitude also shows how much thought goes into the minds of old wizards and aliens and such when they bestow power. They do not just do it willy nilly, just toss it out there without mounds of research and computer models. This is the harsh lesson Capt. Fantastic must learn.
