While we’ve been gone
Shuffleboil has been sadly neglected of late, largely because we’ve just been preoccupied by other work.
The big news is that we have sold a picture book, to be published next fall by Andrews McMeel. Jana has been working on the pages, my work is long done. It will be our second published work together, not counting the old comic book days, and we’re excited about it — and hopeful it’s part of the shape of things to come. We have some other projects on the drawing table, but this one is totally cute and we’re hoping to be able to do some follow-ups to it along the same lines.
I’ve been working on some of my own things, a book, and also doing some extracurricular work for Worcester Magazine . . . as well as the things I do every week at the newspaper. The election got me writing opinion columns again for the first time in a while. Also, I have spent some time shaping up a story for Howard Cruse’s upcoming second issue of The North County Perp. It’s short fiction — “Brooksie Parrish and the Great Orgy of 1927.” Old timers may recall Brooksie from a Very Vicky story called “Very Vicky and The Secret of the Bronx Cocktail Chapter 3.” This is a tale of Brooksie’s younger days, accompanied by a great illustration of the character by Jana.
Also, I now feel safe in mentioning that I have been curating an online exhibit of web comics for Greylock Arts in Adams. Our hope is that we will have that up and running in the new year — I’ve written short essays for each involved web comic and conducted interviews with each creator. I’m excited about it and love the creative partnership with Matt and Marianne!
We plan to get back into this Shuffleboil groove at some point. Actually, we’re hoping for a sort of relaunch of sorts that Matt and Marianne are kind of involved with, as well. It’ll involve moving our server — you’ll see below that we have had an irritation with our current one — and becoming part of a larger scheme in Matt and Marianne’s vast arsenal of creative endeavors.
In the meantime, I’ve also been doing some occasional blogging for The Transcript at the Reverse Direction blog. There may be more of that coming, as some personnel shuffling might afford me some more time to concentrate on those matters.
I’ll probably step up some entries on Shuffleboil now that the election is over and we’ll resume with The Bob, as well. But that’s what’s been going on lately . . .

That’s a good way to be preoccupied. Congratulations!
